OSME outlook

The year 2023 is characterized by high uncertainty. With the war in Ukraine going on, restricted energy supplies, 9,1 % inflation in November, and no economic growth foreseeable for Finland, this year will be one with productivity as priority number one.

For OSME we have outlined four impact areas: productivity, adaptability, reconfigurability, and sustainability. We decided to prioritize the 2022 development on manufacturing productivity in the extended enterprise. Retrospectively, this choice looks right.

OSME has focused on joint capability building to create the foundation for collaboration beyond the first project phase that will end this year. This collaboration will use the OSME platform as a means for measures to improve on all four impact areas: productivity, adaptability, reconfigurability, and sustainability. In addition, we have emphasized situational awareness, which has meant that we have initiated use cases that flexibly can address development topics that are relevant here and now but will also support the longer-term development trajectory that we have envisaged for OSME.

For OSME the focus will still be on concrete measures to secure the potential of the OSME platform to provide concrete benefits to the OSME members. This implies two key activities: information exchange supporting production planning and common issue management on a network level. These are the main short-term objectives for OSME. On top of this, we will also more actively explore the potential for us to support other broader ambitions within the organizations we are working with.

OSME invites new members to expand the ecosystem, creating OSME 2.0. If you are interested in joining OSME, please contact Christian Sundman (christian.sundman(a)wartsila.com) or Niklas Koski (niklas.koski(a)synocus.com).
