Intelligent Manufacturing in Ecosystem members gathered to plan the next steps

The Intelligent Manufacturing in Ecosystem (IME) project is a common effort of 12 organizations. The project, led by Sandvik, is a €12 million initiative, focusing on intelligence in materials, manufacturing of intelligent parts, and digital twins in supply chains. As the project is nearing its halfway point, the member organizations gathered for a members’ meeting on November 30th.

The event, held at Tasowheel premises in Tampere, saw status updates from each member organization’s respective projects, as well as a MEX Finland update. Tasowheel, that is celebrating its 70th year in business, gave insights on its operations and a factory tour which provided the foundation for the discussions on how digitalization is shaping the future way of working. In addition, the meeting also addressed the common activities within MEX Finland for 2020.

The event concluded, that although the IME-project is only halfway, already several big steps have been taken. To maximize the benefits of the project, it is important to work even closer together. It is also important to keep in mind the next steps after this project and it was agreed that the planning for the next phase, beyond 2020, should be immediately initiated.
